Part P of the Building Regulations states that certain Electrical Work undertaken in Domestic Dwellings must be notified to the Local Authority Building Control (LABC).
There are 2 ways that work can be undertaken:
1. Employ an Electrician who is a member of one of the Organisations running an Authorised Competent Person Self - Certification Schemes for Electrical Installation Work which Hudson Electrical is a member of NAPIT one of the Schemes. Under this Scheme Electricians Notify their Organisation that the work has been done, The Organisation in turn informs the LABC and the client that the work has been undertaken.
2. Inform the LABC that you will undertake the work yourself and the LABC will charge a Fee to undertake the Inspection of the Work. Bear in mind that the work needs to be carried out to the latest Standards. LABC fees will be in the region of £200.
Please be aware that it is the Householders responsiblity to employ a registered Competent Person see Links Tab link to LABC Competent Person Register.
There are a quite a lot of unregistered Electricians out there!
